Below is a quick guide on how to do a Max Battle:

If you are not familiar with the ins and outs of doing a Max Battle, this guide is a perfect guide that teaches you how to do a Max Raid battle.

  • Only Dynamax Pokemon can be used in a Max Battle.
  • There can be up to four trainers participating in a Dynamax Raid.
  • Dynamax Pokemon can learn up to three Max Moves: Max Attack, Max Guard, Max Spirit. Each move has three levels: Level 1, Level 2 and Max Level. By increasing the Max Moves level, you will increase the potency of the move for that Pokemon permanently. Leveling up a Max Move will require Max Particles and Candy, and XL Candy for leveling up a Max Move to a Max Level.
    • When a Pokemon is dynamaxed:
    • Max Attack is used which is based on the Pokemon's Fast Attack. (This is confusing for some trainers who think the Max Attack is based on Pokemon's Charge Move, which is incorrect; the Max Attack of a Pokemon when dynamaxed is based on its Fast Move).
    • Max Guard creates a shield which prevents or reduces the damage when there is an attack from the raid boss.
    • Max Spirit heals the Pokemon and allied Pokemon who have used the Max Attack.
  • At the raid battle, tab the screen which uses the fast move to generate energy and fill up the Max Meter located at the top of the battle screen. (You may want to use a fast move that generates the most energy to fill up the Max Meter quickly).
  • When the Max Meter is at 100%, your current Pokemon will dynamax and uses its charge move three times and you have the option to use new charged moves of Max Guard and/or Max Spirit if you have unlocked them.
  • Also, at the time when the Max Meter is at 100%, your available Pokemon will show on the right side of the battle screen, and this will give you the opportunity to switch to a different Pokemon with super-effective charge move.
  • Use the Circle Icon with two arrows located at the bottom right side of the battle screen to switch to a different Pokemon. You can use this icon to switch back to your tank Pokemon.
  • You can dodge the attacks by swiping. A three line prompt will appear over your Pokemon when your Pokemon is about to be a target of an attack, so you can swipe to dodge.
  • You may see an energy icon appears in the middle of the battle screen, swipe to collect it, which will help to fill up the Max Meter
  • Even if you loose the battle, you will not loose the Max Particles that you used, you can keep trying to eventually beat the raid boss
